Decaying plant specimen explores how we understand our environment when it is presented to us through isolation. By photographing plants suspended in a sterile, softened space, they become obscured and are no longer able to be thoroughly examined. The isolation is a representation of a meditative trance like state of experiencing each singular artifact. The specimens are living beneath a barrier that both exposes and conceals their full identity. Falling in and out of focus, the plants are present, but are suspended between a space of being lost and being fully acknowledged and understood.
